Making a simple thread in openSCAD is straightforward - linear_extrude an offset circle with a twist, and that works quite well indeed. However, you have to use numerous slices to avoid some peculiar effects on the twisted extrude, and you end up with a sign wave thread cross section which deviates from conventional norms.\nAs such, I've been experimenting with creating a proper ISO/UTS thread without excessive faces. It took me several attempts to get this right - please feel free to leave your comments.\nIt's designed for metric, but the shape remains the same for UTS, so you can utilize the library, specifying the thread pitch you require, to create UTS.\nI've added the OpenSCAD module - written to function as a library allowing nut, bolt, or arbitrary sections of thread - have fun experimenting with it.\nP.S. I've reviewed numerous other thread libraries on this platform - I believe I'm the only one who has constructed it in this manner - some intriguingly different approaches to the same problem indeed, making for a delightful exploration.
