Island Peak 10km
thingiverse
Island Peak is known to many as Imja Tse, a majestic mountain nestled deep within eastern Nepal's breathtaking Himalayan range. Renowned British explorer Eric Shipton named the peak Island Peak in 1951 due to its striking resemblance to an island in a frozen sea from the vantage point of Dingboche. While its official name was changed to Imja Tse in 1983, locals and adventure seekers still fondly refer to it as Island Peak. Geologists explain that this towering peak is essentially a prolongation of Lhotse Shar's ridge, which extends downwards from its southern edge. This Digital Elevation Model has been created using 1:100,000 scale data sourced from Viewfinder Panoramas' esteemed dem3 dataset available at viewfinderpanoramas.org/dem3.html
