My initial chess piece design features a 2.5-inch size, which is slightly large for my board but serves as an eye-catching accessory. The creation process involved Makerbot Thing-O-Matic with MK7 and 1.75 mm black plastic without rafting, taking around 46 minutes. To ensure proper adherence, clean the Heated Build Platform using rubbing alcohol. I utilized Google Sketchup 8 along with Curviloft plugin (http://forums.sketchucation.com/viewtopic.php?t=28586) for creating this design. This fantastic plugin simplifies curve-based object creation. However, I noticed a slight issue; the angle under the square is too acute, causing strands to hang off. This can be easily fixed with sanding. Additionally, the spire points require sanding as well. I plan to replace the current photos with better ones soon.
