Islamic Pattern Square Screen
thingiverse
I created multiple mini jali screens using my custom-made clothes hanger's star pattern (thingiverse.com/thing:1239548). The idea was to join these units together and create a large-scale screen. As an avid admirer of traditional stone jalis, I've often written about their beauty on my blog (museumofperipheralart.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-second-millennium-stone-age.html). Printing this design presented some challenges, however. My printer started printing erratically, producing a chaotic spider-like pattern due to filament issues. I carefully cut off one corner and removed the defective filaments, a task that took nearly thirty minutes. Despite these setbacks, I'm still pleased with my results. The final file is solid and ready for use.
