Isis represents one of the most significant female deities in ancient times, evolving remarkably from her traditional attributes as a major Egyptian goddess to a new and more complex identity gained within the Greek-Roman religious space, where she will be at the center of an important mystery cult. Her nature as a saving goddess and maternal function will be strongly popularized in Antiquity, being revered especially as a mother goddess. It was believed that Isis possessed the power to help and guide the souls of the dead on the Afterlife Journey. Isis, Apulum, votive statuette made of marble. The goddess is dressed in a chiton and himation which are tightened around her heart forming the characteristic "Isiac knot". It can be assumed that she held a sistrum in her right hand, and a vase in her left hand. Her head was probably decorated with a diadem.
