Many years ago, I received a Father's Day card featuring an adorable drawing of a car with the caption "Isi cutie karrie." This endearing phrase has stuck with me all these years, and whenever I see a cute vehicle, it instantly reminds me of that memorable name. Recently, while traveling in Scotland, I stumbled upon a building designed by an architect who worked exclusively with 90-degree angles, 45-degree angles, and 22.5-degree angles. I was impressed by the design and thought it would be an interesting challenge to create my own cute car that could print without supports. That's how IsACutieCar came into existence. In my native language, Afrikaans, the suffix "-ie" is used to describe a small version of something, similar to the English suffix "-let" (e.g., booklet, applet, piglet). With this in mind, I decided to create a range of cars from the same basic design and give them anglicized names that reflect their unique characteristics. The lineup includes Tjorrie (the sedan), Waentjie (the station wagon or estate), Sportie (the coupe), Bakkie (the pickup), Lorrie (the truck or lorry), and Trokkie (a shortened pick-up with a vertical windscreen). Each of these adorable cars prints without supports, making them perfect for hobbyists who want to create something special. When the printing process is complete, simply loosen the wheels from the print-bed first. I use a wall line count of 4 to ensure the axles are strong and durable. While they may still snap if you intentionally try to break them, they should withstand regular handling on a carpet. I've also designed a little stand that complements these cute cars perfectly, as seen in the accompanying picture. I hope you enjoy IsACutieCar just as much as I do!
