The Soviet heavy tank, IS-3, was produced towards the end of WW2 and missed out on active participation. Often considered one of the first post-war Soviet tanks, it falls under the 'Joseph Stalin' series (abbreviated as JS), which spanned from 1943 to 1953. The 'IS' refers to its place in the serial models, with IS-3 being the third in the family. Its distinctive frontal casing earned it the nickname "Pike".
