Ironstone Cup or Mug

Archaeologists uncovered this unadorned ironstone ceramic cup or mug during an excavation of a brick lighthouse ruin site, which is dated to around 1847 at the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The 19th-century piece bears no maker's marks and showcases the simplicity, durability, and bright white color that defined this type of ceramic ware. Although it may not provide much insight into dating the site, this plain item is consistent with the timeline for the first lighthouse structure at the Cape and was a typical vessel used during that era.
