Iron Works Sculpture

Iron Works Relief Wall Panel; NC State University, College of Design; Raleigh, North Carolina 4 feet by 6 feet; 3 inches deep Agisoft Photoscan, 87 photos This panel has a fracture at the top left corner; mounting it vertically on a wall makes casting difficult without removing and relocating the entire piece. However, since it's both mirrored and duplicated, one can scan the right side and mirror the model to fix the original with a printed or partially cast replacement. Alternatively, you could split the model in half and mirror the whole unit as needed. Some final models produced extremely high polygon counts - one resulting in a 10 GB OBJ file. The uploaded relief is at a smaller scale with reduced resolution; the back has been flattened for printing purposes. Additional work would be necessary to preserve undercuts and engravings, ensuring they remain intact during mesh rendering and when downsizing the OBJ file for traditional 3D printing or CNC machining. Post-processing of original images in batches requires adjustments to levels, contrast, and sharpness. Shooting outdoors posed challenges due to changing cloud cover, overhanging branches casting shadows, intricate details, and the sculpture's size.
