Iris - Shutter - Blende
prusaprinters
I was experimenting with designing some shutter mechanics. My objective was to create a sleek design that minimizes the frame around the iris area. To achieve this, I opted for a 12-winged design. However, having 12 overlapping parts at the center would result in a noticeable hole when fully closed, so I shortened half of them.Internally, it functions like a planetary gear system with the wings acting as a thin first layer on the planet gears. There are 12-tooth planet gears, a 60-tooth sun gear, and an 84-tooth ring gear. This represents version 1.0 of my design, tailored for my door viewer. I 3D printed it using black PLA on an Ender 3 V2 printer and then applied primer and acrylic paint.I had to do a significant amount of gluing for both the backplate and the frontplate.Consider this as an experimental design for now. Assembly i kind of hard to describe, just place the 12 wings evenly. I am currently working on creating a larger version.
