Iris Gift Box

Iris Gift Box

This box boasts an iris mechanism with minimal resistance, allowing you to easily turn the lid with two fingers. It's achieved through a ball bearing system utilizing 6mm steel balls and a pattern of leaves that don't overlap. What makes it a gift box? You can store small gifts inside or use it as one. I've uploaded a short video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOQdQyLQQjw The lid requires precise mounting along a specific path to prevent detachment when grabbing it. The outer diameter is approximately 13 cm, while the height is under 5 cm. Credits: This design is based on the following one by Acop Minasean, adapted for printability and with a box wrapped around it: https://grabcad.com/library/mechanism-of-shutter-1 To build this project, you'll need to obtain 12 6mm steel balls. They're relatively inexpensive since they're commonly used as ammunition for slingshots.
