Iris Door Box v1

Iris Door Box v1

For Maker Faire NYC attendees, here's an improved version of my previous design, now available at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:140048. In response to numerous requests, I built a new iris box from scratch, using flat head screws instead of fragile pins. Although Emmett's original design inspired me, this version requires some adjustments for optimal performance. Included are small and large models, along with a compact short base option. However, scaling might be tricky due to screw size constraints. Print at 5% fill and 1 shell, using #4 x 1/2 flat head metal screws for the small version and #6 for the large one. Secure the iris blades with tape, place the gear ring on top, and insert screws from below. Remove the tape before fine-tuning the screw positions for smooth movement. Be cautious when removing the tape, as forgetting this step can cause issues. Additionally, you may need to clean up blade edges for proper closure depending on print quality.
