Iris clock (remix)
thingiverse
Remix of https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:987532 removed the holes used for mounting the clock face and spacers, redesigned the spacer and clock face so that everything uses the same screws as the inside iris pivot bolts to mount the face and spacers. This allows much smoother movement of the iris mechanism since it is no longer being dragged over the heads of any hardware. Also added a set of "covers" for the leaves of the iris to keep the linkages from falling out. These are just glued on. All hardware is 1/4in, lengths will depend on the thickness of your material. I built this with a 1/8 (3mm) black acrylic back plate, 1/8 (3mm) translucent red clock face, and the rest is 1/8 (3mm) basswood with a very light stain. (sides and bottom are doubled up) Used a cheap walmart clock mechanism. Adjust your settings as needed.
