IRIS carbon (132g lighter arms!)
thingiverse
Let's fly your bird 122g lighter! (enlarge photos to see arm's weight comparison) It's been a while since I've had this project waiting to be completed. Inspiration came from http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:731694, but made entirely from scratch. This version is fully functional. The rear arm connection to the body features hooks allowing you to close the battery door. Additionally, a 'template' was added to ease drilling the carbon rods. Material: Arms rods: 10 mm Feet rods: 8 mm dia Some nuts and bolts (dia 3 mm) Printed in Colorfabb XT-CF20 You'll need to enlarge openings on the lower iris vessel to accommodate the new connections. I plan to fly it this weekend, hopefully, and report back. I also have another version with stronger connections to the body due to a screws setup, but it's slightly heavier. I'm still confident that this one should work. Landing will be the most hazardous moment due to the model's overall rigidity. I'll check if this version is sturdy enough! NOW UPDATED! (22-10-2016) The unified body connection has been made much sturdier with an extra notch to trim blades orientation. The new 'corpo' is now unified, requiring only 4 pieces to be printed.
