Iris

Iris

thingiverse

This is an example of an iris done in SW intended to be 3d printed. You will need to reorent the STL files to not need support. The render of the assy is not showing the twisting that the leafs need in reality. the Pins need to be glued in the base holding the leafs in base. the critical part is holding the leaf as close as possible against the base. you can see the gray dots on the image1 you will need to print at least 10 copies of the leafs and pins. It is helpful the sand the top side of the leafs to smooth them out. I found it useful to do this while still on the print bed. the size of the screws I used where M3 x 12mm long. a question ask on the original was "Can it close all the way?" because of the mechanics of how an iris works I don't see how that is possible. it is possible to minimize the smallest hole. it will not get to a zero. let alone with the limitations of 3d printing I included the SolidWorks 2023 files.
