The Ireland national rugby union team represents the island of Ireland, encompassing both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, in rugby union competitions worldwide. Currently ranked third globally by World Rugby as of March 18, 2019, this team consistently competes annually in the prestigious Six Nations Championship, where they have secured a remarkable fourteen outright victories and shared nine titles across its various formats. In addition to their annual Six Nations participation, Ireland also participates every four years in the highly anticipated Rugby World Cup, achieving impressive quarter-final stage appearances in all but two competitions: 1999 and 2007.
