I was having some issues with the IR filament sensor for my Prusa MK3S. On the Prusa forum, someone mentioned a problem that can be solved by adding a spacer below the IR-PCB. So, I attached an 0.8mm spacer and a new cover to this message. If 0.8mm is too thick for your printer, you'll also find included 0.6mm and 0.4mm spacers. Since making that change, my printer works well and correctly detects when filament is inserted or not. As the extruder gets quite warm, I wouldn't recommend printing this part in PLA or similar materials - I printed it in PETG instead.
