We had to address a problem concerning this anatomical component: the dolphin is devoid of a pelvis. On the other hand, we considered that of the horse to be excessively overshadowing and heavy. We therefore opted for one of the large marine reptiles from prehistoric times, the Talassomedonte from the order of Plesiosauri: it has a pelvis with suitable characteristics, in fact it is tapered, agile and light, and does not impede the lower limbs of the dolphin inserted into the acetabulum; on the contrary, it facilitates and accompanies the wavelike movement. Additionally, it is connected to the vertebrae through long and thin iliac bones (almost copies of clavicles), modified in the model so as to interact correctly with the equine vertebrae.
