iPod Shelf Mount Charging Dock
thingiverse
This dock is designed specifically for clamping onto a shelf or sidetable, with the primary goal of making charging an iPod easier for my elderly mother. Her reliance on her iPod to communicate with friends and family has been hindered by her powered lift chair, which has devoured numerous lightning cables over the past couple of years. This dock is intended to keep the cables safely away from the chair while also simplifying the process of plugging in the cable for my mother. The compartment has been intentionally oversized to accommodate an iPod case, providing extra protection and convenience. The design is tailored for a specific right-angle version of a lightning cable, which can be found on Amazon. This cable fits snugly into the dock's "keyhole," with some built-in tolerance for easy insertion. To enhance the dock's grip, I recommend adding a small amount of Shoe Goo or a rubber bumper to the top of the screw. The entire design was created from scratch using TinkerCad, allowing for precision and customization.
