iPhone usb cable protection
thingiverse
I was inspired by the idea of this thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:742415. I made it slightly different, with a 90-degree turn in the cable channel at the end, so the cable stays locked securely in place. The size gap for the USB connector case is just 0.1mm, so scale up or down accordingly if your printer doesn't print exactly to size. All sizes are clearly marked on the picture, and you can use brim/raft depending on your table's adhesion properties. Make sure to enable supports that only touch the build plate as this is the only place where they're needed. Check out the attached picture to see how Cura creates its own supports for this print. Print in a vertical orientation, just like the example I've attached. All sizes are adapted for standard 0.4mm line width. I printed it with PETG at a speed of 50/30, and it took a total of 27 minutes to complete. Update: The Lightning connector is proving to be a bit more challenging than I anticipated. I have cables from both SE and 11 models, but they're different sizes. After researching online, none of the sizes I found matched mine exactly, so I'm adding a new file with my iPhone SE's exact measurements - 7.80x5.20mm. The newer connector looks more like an ellipse, while this one has square corners and a rounded edge. You can try printing just the first few millimeters to see if it fits snugly in place. Print without supports for now.
