I stumbled upon an ingenious idea (http://www.instructables.com/id/10-Smartphone-to-digital-microscope-conversion/) which utilizes laser pointer lenses for close-up photography. This accessory, utilizing standard laser pointer lenses, was successfully tested on my iPhone 4S. A screw serves to fine-tune the focus. A crumpled paper towel served as a test subject for sample photos. Design-wise, inclusion of plastic screws was initially considered; however, I encountered a minor issue – the PLA-printed part boasted very narrow holes due to shrinkage in filament. Consequently, I enlarged the lens hole by 0.4mm, making it perfectly snug with the laser pointer lens. To avoid such dilemmas, standard machine screws are the ideal choice.
