iPhone Gear Case
thingiverse
Revise the iPhone 4/4s case with moving gears on its back by altering original rivets for easy printing. The new case fits perfectly without any wiggle room and is simple to remove. The main case has been scaled for a better fit, while part orientations have been changed only. To print the case, use 1.5 mm spaced honeycomb support with 0.175 mm layers and solid fill for extra strength. Print gears using whichever layer height works best, preferably single walls for stronger construction. Rivets should be printed using single walls and low layer heights to increase durability. Sand the parts, test fit the gears, and push rivets in place. Apply thick CA glue on each rivet but avoid thinner glue as it may leak through and lock the gears. Wait for the glue to dry before snapping your phone into position; trim a little material around the silencing slider if using an iPhone 4s. The source files can be found at Instructables and GrabCAD, while the easier-to-print version is available on Thingiverse.
