iphone 8 magnifier attachment
thingiverse
I crafted this attachment specifically for my iPhone 8, equipping it with a magnifying lens so I could closely examine and capture images of objects far smaller than what my naked eye can detect. To achieve this, I purchased a double convex lens with a 13.7mm diameter and 12mm focal length from Edmund Optics, catalog number 76770. If you opt for a different lens, simply modify the openSCAD file by adjusting the objectivediameter and objectivethickness to match the specifications of your chosen lens. This attachment is manufactured in three individual components. First, I set phase to 0 to print the bracket that securely attaches to my phone. Next, I set phase to 1 to print the lens mount, followed by setting phase to 2 to print the lens retainer. Once all pieces are assembled, I bond the lens mount to the bracket using E6000 adhesive, which has proven reliable in past applications. After the adhesive dries, I insert the lens and snap the retainer into place, holding it firmly in position with a small amount of glue to prevent the lens from falling out.
