The original design fits so perfectly it's amazing. I decided to make it printable in PLA without any support needed and use it as a snap-on case. I added a couple of cutouts and tested the design on an iPhone 8. The basic case is available for further remixes. The honeycomb pattern really stood out as a design element. The remix was done in Tinkercad, and I'll provide the file upon request. UPDATE: I added a better version of the basic case with nicer cutouts and dialed in the size. I designed several back plates to make the design modular.
