iPhone 6 Telescope Mount

This project was motivated by Adamlamee's ingenious iPhone 5 Telescope mount design. After upgrading to an iPhone 6, I needed a modified version that would accommodate the new device. This revised design is optimized for use with a 32 mm eyepiece and has been successfully printed with PLA. For ABS prints, you may need to increase the size by about 100.7%. I'm thrilled with the outcome of my astrophotography experiment: capturing an image of Jupiter along with four of its moons using my DIY telescope mount. The picture quality is still a work in progress, but it's significantly better than what I was able to achieve previously. The print settings used for this project were straightforward. Printer: Duplicator i3; Rafts: None; Supports: None; Resolution: 0.3 mm; Infill: 10%. I didn't experiment with any special settings, so if you encounter any issues with your bottom layer, you may need to clean up the peg holes slightly. Since the design is printed in two pieces, I used a superglue bond between them to prevent damage from handling or assembly stress. This precaution proved to be prudent, as the pegs can easily break off without proper support. Applying just a small amount of glue to the surface that contacts the main body should suffice. In addition to securing the pieces together, I employed a rubber band to stabilize my phone in place. While this might not be necessary due to the precise fit, taking precautions ensures peace of mind when working with delicate components.
