iPhone 6 Plus Motorcycle Holder
thingiverse
I always wanted to build a proper iPhone holder for my motorcycle because buying a dedicated motorcycle GPS is really expensive and there's usable software on the market that complements the capabilities of an iPhone well. So, after I bought my Triumph Speed Triple 1050, I drove it back home and instantly got lost on the way. I hated getting off the bike, pulling out the iPhone, checking directions, and doing that same thing all over again for a couple of times. So I designed, printed, and tested this holder and I really like it. PLA or a similarly strong material is required due to the screw holes I used. ABS might fall apart in between the layers and I'm not responsible when you ruin your expensive phone with this! Be warned! This isn't a good idea in general but it works for me. The piece is designed to be a tight fit. For some reason, my printer has a scaling problem so I had to add some hot glue to make sure my phone fits nicely. This also prevents the phone from vibrating. I used four 3x20mm screws and six 3x12mm screws to put the holder together. I also bought silicone mat from IKEA (usually used to put a pot on a table - see pictures), cut off one side, and used it to secure the complete mount on the handlebar using two big zipties. Not waterproof! Print Settings: Printer: Malyan M180 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 40% Notes: The small clip.stl should be printed at an angle with support to make it stronger. Post-Printing: Remove support from the clip and file down the hinge parts a bit so they can move freely. Drill holes to proper sizes - two and a half millimeters or three thirty-second inches if you're working with this messed-up imperial system. Also, use a three-millimeter or one-eighth-inch drill bit for through-hole screw holes.
