iPhone 5 Gear Case with Geneva Mechanism
thingiverse
Inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:65810, an impressive gear case designed by QuentinT, this iPhone 5 version offers a challenge in redesigning while keeping the original's appearance and efficiency. The power switch features a soft spring load for better feedback when clicked. Print all parts except pins, needing three of each size. Sand gear faces and surfaces thoroughly, using the included Fit Tester to check mesh alignment. Attach gears with appropriate pins, drilling holes as needed. Glue the ridge onto the case's back, aligning it properly. Use superglue on the power button's flat spot to attach it to the top of the shell. Gears may require a break-in period; use the provided gear chuck for faster hand turning or an electric screwdriver. Ensure a secure phone fit by sanding the inside edges as needed. Thank QuentinT for inspiration, and enjoy your new case.
