iPhone 4 Macro Lens modified
thingiverse
Andrew Barton's Thingiverse design, number 19936, inspired me to create my own macro lens adapter. I was pleased with the idea but found the original design lacking. Thus, I made several improvements to suit my needs. The lens is a simple push fit and no glue is required. To enhance compatibility, I resized the adapter to fit over my iPhone 4S case without needing removal. Since I rarely use the flash for close-ups, I removed the extra hole over it. As the lens doesn't need gluing, I closed off the upper layer hole and added a small bump for gripping the front glass. The rounded corners were made smaller to prevent overhang distortion. Although an OpenSCAD novice, I shared my code since it worked for me. To follow this project, obtain the lens from Surplus Shed (delivery to the UK is $4). Print at a fine resolution using cooling options. Clean the lens with a cloth before pressing it, convex side first, into the adapter hole. If fitting issues arise, adjust the lens radius variable in OpenSCAD from 6.1 to 6.15 and reprint.
