iPhone 4/4S Lanyard Case
thingiverse
For a mom who lost her iPhone 4/4S in a saliva-related incident, create a safe neck accessory to hold the phone. Tested stable version 8.01 is available for download as "iPhone_Lanyard_8.01.stl." Untested Beta version 8.05 is also accessible. To build, load the stl file in your preferred software and print. If you're in the UK and need one printed, reach out. Printing on normal settings with normal fill takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes and consumes about 16g of ABS (excluding printer electricity cost of around £0.50). You'll need 3mm or 4mm shock cable to cut according to your desired length, a shock cable connector, and/or end pieces. Sources include RockRun in the UK or climbing stores for similar components. Visit rockrun.com for products like Golf-Ball Cord End (£0.30 each), Eclipse Cord Lock (£0.50), and Shock Cord 3mm (90p per meter). Non-elastic cord can also be used as an alternative. To assemble, thread the shock cord through the lanyard's holes. Attach golf ball ends with a knot, install the cord lock over the loose ends, and clip the phone holder across the front loop for extra security while in transit. An updated version 8.05 is recommended for improved functionality. Keep costs under £5. A known issue is flash interference; an update has enlarged the flash hole on version 8.05 but hasn't been tested yet.
