Iphigenie at The Louvre, Paris
myminifactory
The imagery of this bust and its masculine counterpart, Chryses (also featured on Scan the World), occasionally mistaken for the seer Calchas, references Greek mythology; the high priestess of Diana and the high priest of Apollo. Iphigenia is a daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra in Greek mythology, ordered by Agamemnon to be killed as a sacrifice so his ships can sail to Troy. In Attic accounts, her name signifies "strong-born," "born to strength," or "she who brings forth strong offspring." This object is part of the global digital archive created through Scan The World, a non-profit initiative introduced by MyMiniFactory that allows anyone to access fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the world for free.
