# IPEVO V4K Camera Arm Extension This is a two-segment arm extension for the IPEVO V4K series of document cameras. I have only tested it with the "Pro" version of this camera, but it should have the same dimensions as the normal one. You can find the cameras in the following links: - https://www.ipevo.com/products/v4k - https://www.ipevo.com/products/v4k-pro This modification will add quite a lot of reach and height to the camera. When extended fully vertically, it will have a height of around 60 cm from the base. This will allow the camera to cover a much larger area, which can be useful for recording various work, or scanning larger documents of A3 size or larger. A nice feature of this mod is that it will still allow the camera to fold together like the original camera, only taking up a slightly more space than before. ## Printing part list - 2x thumb-wheel.stl - 2x spacer.stl - 2x lower-arm-segment.stl - 1x upper-arm-segment.stl ## Required fasteners - 2x M4x30 hexagonal head bolts - 2x M4 nuts ## Printing instructions I printed all of these parts at 0.15mm layer height with 25% infill, except for the small spacers which I instead printed at 0.1mm layer height. On my Prusa MINI+ there was no need for any rafts, supports, or any additional structures. The only overhang in this print will be on thumb-wheel.stl where the hole for the captive hexagonal screw head is. However, this is such a small amount of overhang that no support should be needed, with only some minor post-processing perhaps. ## Assembly instructions - On one of the lower arm segment pieces, place two captive nuts in the hexagonal holes. NOTE: Only do this one ONE of the arm segments, not both. A vice or some adjustable pliers might be needed to force them into place properly - In the thumbscrews, push in the screws as deep as possible. Again, you might need to use some tools to get it forced in properly - These extra arm segments are located at the end of the two existing arm segments on the camera. So unscrew the last small arm piece with the camera attached to it - There are two small spacers on each side of the arm at this point. These are sized for the existing 3mm thumbscrew, but since we are using 4mm screws, remove these - Place the new 4mm spacers where the old ones were. They might not stay in place there on their own, so try to hold them in place for the next step - Take the two lower arm segments and attach them with a thumbscrew - Take the upper arm segment and attach to the upper end of the two lower arm segments, just as before with a thumbscrew (no spacers are needed at this joint) - Attach the camera at the end of the upper arm segment with the existing thumbscrew - Tighten down all thumbscrews as needed
