I wanted to mount an iPad on the wall, but it required a power outlet and a lighting cable. Most commercial outlets available are called recess outlets, with most methods of power supply involving running a USB cable to another outlet or using Ethernet power. In each case, the actual power source looks unsightly. After researching code compliance, I decided to design a customized USB power recess outlet that would meet code requirements and be removable. It has a full custom USB power recess outlet with a removable cover. Additional Equipment Needed: 1. A USB power outlet - https://www.amazon.com/Leviton-T5633-W-Charger-Resistant-Receptacle/dp/B07668S975/ref=sr_1_4?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1544308794&sr=1-4&keywords=outlet+type+C 2. An outlet blank insert - https://www.homedepot.com/p/Leviton-Decora-Plastic-Adapter-Blank-No-Hole-Gray-80414-GY/301753393?MERCH=REC_-_-PIPHorizontal1_rr_-_-206137720_-_-301753393_-_-N 3. A piece of velcro tape To Create: 1. Bend the USB power outlet's ends toward the plug hole, ensuring they are as close to the edge as possible. You may need to remove it from the housing if necessary. This reverses the direction of the mount points. 2. Push the USB outlet into place and attach the printed outlet housing. 3. Cut off the edge of the blank insert using a plier, then sand it until it fits snugly over the outlet cover. Attach a small piece of velcro to both sides to prevent it from falling off.
