IPad Screen as a Monitor

Yes, you read correctly, the screen of an iPad, not the whole tablet itself! I needed a small secondary monitor for my workstation. I was going to get a cheap LCD screen but a friend of mine suggested that I build a monitor from an iPad screen. I got interested and started to find more information about the process. 2048x1536 resolution in a 9.7" size?! These are two main components that you need; The screen itself and an adapter board that sits between the computer and the screen. As the screen is already signal compatible with the Displayport standard, you can hook it up to a Mac or PC by using an adapter board that makes all the necessary connector hookups and provide power for the backlight on the screen. I used hex socket ones. 16 x m3 lock nuts. Or regular ones if you like, doesn't matter that much. 4 x m3 10 mm bolts, to mount the adapter cover. I used nylon ones, easier to cut to size. 4 x m3 10 mm bolts, flat head for the VESA mount 4 x m4 10 mm bolts, for mounting the arm to the VESA mount After that it was just a matter of designing the case and the mount for the screen. I used the Fusion 360 to sketch out the case and one additional piece for mounting it by using the VESA standard 50mm hole spacing. I think I'll make a remix too for that part alone and point it towards jeffreyk's arm project.
