iPad holder for DJI Mavic
thingiverse
I am eagerly anticipating the arrival of my pre-ordered DJI Mavic drone, just like many others. Although I haven't held it yet, I'm confident that I'll miss my iPad mini even more when I do get it. Similar holders are already available online, but I'm expecting better-designed ones to emerge soon. In the meantime, I came up with a makeshift solution using a Phantom 2 device holder and an iPhone mounting plate to fit in the Mavic controller. The device holder I used is this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014NGKNIA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. Keep in mind that these measurements are based on specs alone, as I haven't received my drone yet and can't test it out myself. As soon as it arrives, I'll provide an update. Print Settings: * Printer Brand: MakerBot * Printer Model: Replicator * Rafts: Doesn't Matter * Supports: Yes * Resolution: Normal - Standard High * Infill: Normal - Standard High Notes: I didn't use rafts and got a slight lift on one corner, but overall it's not too bad. If you experience weak first-layer adhesion with larger prints, I recommend using a raft. The cross-bracing and holes reduce filament usage while maintaining rigidity. You might want to increase shells and infill for extra stability, but mine seems sturdy enough to hold an iPad mini 2. How I Designed This I used Solidworks 2014 to design this holder. While it's pricey, I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to create 3D models. Everything on my account was designed in Solidworks with no training and only minimal guidance from YouTube tutorials.
