The iPad HandleStand is an inventive case that features 3D printed handles hinged open into an adjustable A-frame stand. It works seamlessly with a Smart Cover or Logitech UltraThin Keyboard Cover and can tilt to any angle. For further details, visit http://interlockroc.org/2013/04/06/3d-printed-handlestand-for-ipad/. This protective case requires a hinge set with two brackets and four hinge members, two handles each containing parts for a three-piece handle and a MicroBeaner for the shoulder strap. Additionally, you'll need a polycarbonate iPad case that snaps on at the corners, like the Poetic Basic Smart Cover Case from Amazon. Also required are two stainless steel 6-32 x .75 inch oval phillips machine screws to attach hinges to brackets, two flat-head 6-32 x .5 inch machine screws to attach brackets to the polycarbonate case, and four 6-32 lock nuts with nylon inserts. Four #10 o-rings provide friction for hinges while four #41 o-rings offer friction against a table. A parachord measuring 5 feet long is used as well. Tools needed include a drill with a .125 inch bit and countersink bit, solvent like Oatey cleaner (yellow label white can) for bonding ABS, which can also be replaced with acetone or superglue. However, exercise caution during this process as the solvent can dissolve many materials, stain surfaces, and is best handled with latex gloves and aluminum foil on your work surface. Warning: be cautious when using solvents for bonding, as it requires eye protection, a well-ventilated area, and care to avoid damaging other items. After coating parts, dry them before moving to the next end for uniform glossy finish. The solvent can also heal delaminated parts with caution.
