Initially, I desired a pencil for my iPad as finger drawing was not suitable for me using SketchBook Pro. Unfortunately, the local Apple store did not have any in stock and sold only small and slim ones. Thus, I decided to buy from Amazon or eBay. However, having a 3D printer (ToM), I thought of making my own capacitive pen. I designed one that failed since I didn't research on how these pens were constructed. After thorough research, I created another version with a conductive foam that makes electrical contact with the hand, resulting in an effective drawing pen. The only drawback is that I can no longer blame poor drawings on imprecise finger inputs. For the 3D print, I used 2 extra shells for stability and 15% infill. To fit the wire, I widened a channel inside the pencil part with a hot paperclip. I used 0.8mm regular solder as wire and twisted it to prevent loosening. Conductive foam was press-fitted into the recession, ensuring contact without the need for glue. The foam was trimmed to shape, and now, I enjoy using my new pen!
