I designed this camera kit specifically for use with the Sprint Timer App at athletic meets, where precise photo finishes are crucial. To ensure versatility, I created both vertical and horizontal mount designs, although Sprint Timer only supports the latter orientation. The kit is compatible with iPad versions 2, 3, and 4, and includes a valuable accessory package: a lens hood to shield the lens from direct sunlight, a fold-out screen shade for improved visibility in bright conditions, and a tripod mount featuring an anti-twist pin for added stability. This design has undergone multiple revisions. The tripod mount boasts triangulated braces connecting the base plate to the device, providing a rock-solid hold that resists flex and twist. Meanwhile, the lens hood effectively blocks stray sunlight from illuminating the lens at the front, while the screen shade enhances readability in direct sunlight. Given that iPad versions 3 and 4 are slightly thicker than their iPad 2 counterparts, I crafted two separate kit versions to accommodate these differences.
