This iPad camera kit was designed specifically for use with Sprint Timer App to capture photo finishes at athletic events, featuring both vertical and horizontal mount designs. Despite Sprint Timer only supporting vertical orientation, the kit is compatible with iPad versions 2, 3, and 4. It includes a lens hood, fold-out screen shade, and tripod mount with anti-twist pin support. The design has evolved through several iterations, including triangulated braces for a stable tripod mount and shades to block out stray sunlight. Two versions of the kit exist due to slight thickness differences in iPad versions 3 and 4. To assemble the kit, print the base, hood, and left and right shade panels according to your desired orientation. Ensure tight tolerances for a snug fit by printing slightly lean; sanding the inside edge may be necessary for a perfect fit. Attach the shade panels to the hood using a 100mm length of 1.75mm PLA filament as hinge pin, softened in boiling water and flattened on a chopping board before insertion through pre-drilled holes. Print bases at 150 micron layer height to ensure proper threading. Aim for 3 shells and 25% infill during printing.
