iPad-3 Tripod Mount
thingiverse
This is a simple iPad-3 mount for a regular tripod. It contains 6 parts, requires 2 pieces of aluminum bar 1/2" x 1/8" (about .2" x .05"), one M3x16mm screw and one M6x12mm hex bolt. Print two copies of side.stl and decide whether to use top.stl or top2.stl thing. There's no need to print both. The difference between these two files is that top.stl is designed for precisely cut bar, which will end inside the thing. When you need to install or remove iPad, top.stl thing has to be removed from the bar and then replaced. Top2.stl allows the bar to be longer and pass through it. In this case, just slide top2.stl thing along the bar to lock/release the iPad. Print Settings Printer: Vertex K8400 with E3D print-heads Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.3mm Infill: 25% Post-Printing Cut two aluminum bars. The length of the shorter bar should be 176mm. The length of the longer bar depends on whether you'll print top or top2 thing. For top, the bar length is 250mm; for top2, it's 300mm. Assemble all parts; pay special attention to the orientation of the center part and the distances between parts (see drawings). Make sure everything, including iPad, fits. Now drill holes in both bars for M3x16mm screw that will tighten them together with the center part. Drill a 3.5mm hole in the center of the shorter bar. Measure 126mm from the end of the long bar and drill a 3.5mm hole there. The holes are wider than the screw; the screw should easily pass through them; it will hold on the thread cut in plastic. Put together the bars and the center part, and fix them in this position with the screw. Glue side parts to both ends of the short bar. Make sure distances are correct before glue dries. Glue the bottom part to the same end of the long bar from where you measured 126mm when marking the spot for the hole. Make sure distance is correct before glue dries. Glue M6 bolt to the bottom of hex hole in knob part. When glue is completely dry, screw the knob bolt into the hole in the top piece to make thread. Place the top thing with the knob on the open end of the long bar and tighten the knob.
