An IP camera is a great way to keep an eye on your print. This design provides a detachable "holster" for a D-LINK DCS932 (or other camera in the same packaging). The holster attaches to a mounting bracket for the Makerbot 2 / 2x series printers. Instructions This is a first project using the Matter & Form "Photon Scanner". The body shape for the IP cam was scanned in as a quick way of creating the form for the holster. As a tip to users of such scanners, I used hairspray to render the glossy surface scannable. And it comes off with a damp cloth... The actual holster form was created by creating offsets from a couple sections of the scanned mesh. The holder is in three parts in order to make it easy to print. The bracket that sits on the printer is formed by two panels that are joined together with press-fit (and glue if needed) dovetails. The bracket attaches to the printer with the 6mm dia (2 mm thick) magnets I have used and specified in other projects. The same magnets ensure the camera holster attaches firmly to the bracket - and can be detached very easily too. The photos and CAD renders show the design and produced materials in use. (And a video http://youtu.be/mQ3SqlY6Kiw) There is also a camera capture of the view from the camera when it is in place. The design is provided in variety of 3D model formats for your adaption... My prints were done using Simplyfy3D; fabulous product! Category: 3D Printer Accessories
