The IoT Guardian is a Challenge submission for the Z-Wave Smart Home Maker Challenge sponsored by Make and Sigma Designs. The IoT Guardian is an indoor/outdoor monitoring system based on off-the-shelf Z-Wave products that integrates seamlessly with a Z-Wave compatible gateway and utilizes online service providers, such as IFTTT, to trigger actions. It was designed to house the following Z-Wave devices: - Fibaro Motion Sensor - Fibaro Flood Sensor - First Alert Smoke Detector PLA plastic is used to print all of the parts. The motion sensor is secured within its housing using the sensor's included mounting screw. The face of the sensor is attached with a 3x20mm cap head screws. The motion sensor head unit is connected to the Guardian housing through the use of the sensor bar at the bottom and a nut/bolt passing through the two pieces. The smoke detector is attached within the housing using the detector's included wall mounting bracket and screws. The leak detector is currently held in place at the bottom of the housing using wire, as a mounting bracket still needs to be created. The pole mount should be printed with at least 20% infill. It uses 1/4” bolts, washers, and nuts. The pole mount is designed to be mounted onto 1/2” EMT. If the housing is printed in two parts, an epoxy adhesive is used to attach the two pieces together.
