Iosif Constantin Drăgan was a Romanian businessman, writer, and historian born on June 20, 1917. He passed away on August 21, 2008. In 2005, he topped the list of wealthiest Romanians according to Capital magazine with an estimated wealth of $850 million. The following year, in 2006, his wealth soared to a staggering $1.3-1.6 billion, making him the richest Romanian. Drăgan was involved in several controversies throughout his life. He faced allegations related to dealings with Romania's secret police force and expressed admiration for Ion Antonescu, the leader of the Romanian Fascist regime.
