Ion Dragalina was a renowned Romanian general who met his demise on November 9, 1916, during the pivotal Battle of Jiu Valley in World War I. Born on December 16, 1860, in Caransebeș, Ion Dragalina hailed from a distinguished military family. His father, Alexandru Dragalina, was an accomplished officer who served in the Austro-Hungarian army until his resignation in 1859. Following his resignation, the family relocated to Romania where Alexandru Dragalina took up the position of administrator for the border region. However, Marta Lazaroni, Ion's mother, yearned to give birth to her firstborn son, Ioan, in their ancestral home, prompting the family to return to Caransebeș. And so, on December 16, 1860, Ioan Dragalina was born as the eldest of four sons. This intriguing relic is part of "Scan The World", a groundbreaking initiative spearheaded by MyMiniFactory.
