Ioannina Castle
myminifactory
The Ioannina Castle stands proudly atop the fortified old town of Ioannina, northwest Greece's vibrant city. This imposing fortification boasts a design that dates primarily to Ali Pasha's reconstruction efforts during the late Ottoman era, seamlessly integrating pre-existing Byzantine and ancient Greek architectural elements. This innovative project was born from an experiment involving 33 students from two high schools in Ioannina, Greece. These students were tasked with collaboratively crafting creative objects, many of which conveyed messages in Braille, a language that holds significance for the visually impaired community. The finished products were then shared with blind children to explore the potential of 3D printing as a medium for collaboration between individuals with and without visual impairments. The results of this experience have been overwhelmingly positive thus far. For more information about this groundbreaking project, please visit its dedicated blog.
