Io rover (science project)
thingiverse
This is the rover from our team's final science project. We had a spare 3d model kicking around, so why not give it a shot? It was designed to travel to Jupiter's moon, Io. Side note: It's now over a week since the quarter ended and we still haven't received our grades yet. Print Settings Printer: M3D micro 3d printer Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: Any quality is fine for this project Infill: Low or hollow with thick walls Notes: There are two ways to approach this. Option one: Print the rover body and solar panels, then glue them onto a model car chassis or an RC car if it's big enough. Option two: Print the entire body and add struts or wheels. Directions: 1. Print the body and solar panels for the half that looks like a shell. Make sure to leave the top half as a solid support structure. 2. Glue the solar panels onto the nubs sticking out of the rover body. 3. If you want to get creative, either design and print your own wheels or glue some on to the entire body for representation. If you have access to a big 3d printer, feel free to attach it to an RC car chassis if you like. No pressure to do so. Post-Printing Skills Learned Engineering Astronomy 3D Modeling
