Involute gears (spur and helix)
thingiverse
This is the customizer for gears in Mechanical Parts Library. It can generate spur, helix and double helix gears with precision. This script stands out as it includes cutoff, a crucial feature that prevents meshing gears from getting stuck when they have low tooth counts. Without cutoff, gears may not fit together properly, leading to jamming or breakage. The ability to generate different spacing patterns and mounting hole shapes makes this script even more versatile. It can also create screw holes and supports for added stability, as well as enable a handle that allows the user to rotate the gear manually. The license for this script is MIT, which means it's free to use without any restrictions. Any gears generated using this script are the property of the user and can be used as they see fit. If you want to incorporate this script into your OpenSCAD library, consider using the entire Mechanical Parts Library, as it contains additional features that may prove useful. If you have specific requests or suggestions, I'm open to hearing them and considering implementing new features in future updates. Below are some print settings: Printer Brand: RepRap Printer Model: Prusa i3 Raft Settings: Doesn't Matter Supports Settings: Doesn't Matter Resolution: 0.2 I haven't had a chance to print the latest version of this script, but previous iterations have worked seamlessly. After printing, consider using sandpaper to smooth out any rough edges and reduce friction.
