Invisible Thread Reel
thingiverse
Here is my version of an "Invisible Thread Reel". Most magicians will know what it's good for. I try to work with very thin Kevlar threads. But in the standard tube-like reels, the ultra-thin thread breaks very often. Changing the thread takes me more than 20 minutes each time... So much wasted time! In a video with John Finn, he showed his old self-made reel. It was contained in a pillbox. Based on that design, I tried different housing sizes, reel diameters, rubber band lengths, and so on. This is now my fifth design. Features: A pull-out length of 2 meters is possible (maybe more?). The reel is very quiet (if not pulled out too fast). Very easy to add a new wax ball to the leftover thread. Very easy to set pre-tension by turning the rubber loops on the ends. Very easy and quick replacing the whole spinner. The size is okay to stay in my jeans front pocket or be attached in a jacket. ... And, of course, it's easy to print. I bought the rubber band in a craft store. It's provided for stretchable bracelets. I recommend attaching one piece of rubber band on each spinner half before gluing them together.
