We invested in an invisible fence system with a collar that emits warning beeps and gentle zaps when our dog tries to bolt off. The manufacturer advises against leaving the device on overnight, but ours comes equipped with a rechargeable battery, prompting me to create a custom storage box and hook that keeps it safe from getting misplaced.
