Inverted Standing Buddha Marcus Aurelius with Manual Supports
pinshape
Recently, an old buddy casually tweeted that boy howdy would he adore a Standing Buddha inspired by Marcus Aurelius for his living room decor. If you printed the original model, you'd be scraping off layers of support plastic from underneath for days on end. Fortunately, thanks to a clever technique I discovered at the Make: Magazine 2015 Digital Fabrication Shootout, we can significantly reduce the need for support material. All you have to do is rotate the model approximately 225 degrees so its feet are pointing upwards towards the sky and manually add a few supports using your preferred software. This trick should work for many humanoid models, saving time and hassle in the process. I also added a circular base for extra stability. A dab of super glue or epoxy should be enough to hold everything together securely.
