This is an "inverted Bowden" adapter for the Ender 3 S1 Pro. Yeah, I know: what the F is an inverted bowden? So, basically, on a direct drive extruder system, you have a bowden tube running from the spool holder to the inlet of the extruder. This has many advantages, however depending on the particular setup you are using: - You move the weight of the spool off the frame of the printer. Very often, the weight stands tall on the frame, amplifying vibrations and giving more surface artifacts on the surface - The printhead doesn't get pulled upwards while extruding filament, so that its Z-distance remains totally constant - If you use an enclosure, the overall height of the printer is reduced: you can use less material to build the box, and you can have the spool in a more accessible position (in front of the printer, for example). - Essentially, you get all the benefits of a Bowden setup, together with those of a direct drive! Just print it with on the side with the 5 mm hole, with no supports needed. It's convenient to use PETG or PCTG, due to their strong interlayer adhesion. Once cleaned from the brim, and maybe very lightly refined with a small knife in the 5 mm hole, you can tap a thread by forcing the PC4-M6 pneumatic fitting in it. Once seated, insert the Bowden tube, take it to the filament spool holder and use another fitting to secure the tube. Snap-fit the piece on the filament runout sensor. You have to keep the sensor in the same position as it normally is, by using some screws and a 90-degree metal plate. I suggest to also loosely fix the bowden to the same plate, as you can see in the pictures, so that the filament sensor doesn't capsize itself... Insert the filament from the spool, it should go all the way in and exit from the filament sensor. Then, you can feed it into the extruder, and you're good to go! PS As you can see, the mod can stay "silent" as much as you want, just by fitting a short tube of bowden and keeping all the rest in the exact same setup!
